Ricardo Fernandes was born in Brazil, into a family of merchants, collectors, and art enthusiasts. A collector since childhood, he had his first experiences as a contemporary art gallerist in the 1990s in Brazil. With strong academic training at leading schools and universities in Brazil, Switzerland, and France, in the fields of art and international art business, Ricardo Fernandes has built his career in the contemporary art world, recognized for his curatorial projects and expertise.
In 2006, he decided to move to France to develop a contemporary art gallery and began his activities as an art dealer in Paris in 2007. In 2009, he opened his first space in the Marais district, consolidating his presence on the French art scene. In 2017/2018, the gallery relocated to the Marché Dauphine in Saint-Ouen, marking a new stage in its development.
He is a member of the Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) in New York, the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) in Paris, and the Association for Art History (AAH) in London, thus integrating an international network of expertise and reflection on art.

The Galerie Ricardo Fernandes is a member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (CPGA), firmly anchoring it within the dynamics of the French art market. It is also the first contemporary art gallery in Saint-Ouen to be recognized by this professional organization.
