Sophie Gallardo studied interior decoration, then trained in restoration of painted wood (to give a second life to old furniture). She acquires ancient craft techniques from renowned professionals. She moved to the Marché Dauphine in 2007 with Georges-Guillaume Cassan. Between them, they invent an atypical process and develop a unique savoir-faire: marquetry based on birch bark.
Each piece is unique and can take up to three months to complete. They work on beautifully crafted furniture (from the 18th century to the 1970s), often playing on the imperfections of the bark, the accidents of the material to create graphic shapes and patterns. Here and there mineral encrustations (labradorite, rock crystal, amethyst, etc.), like so many precious gems, transform these new pieces of furniture into cabinets of curiosities.
