Born in Tehran, Iran, Mehdi showed a real talent and passion for drawing from an early age. After taking refuge in France in 1986, he initially studied science and became an engineer, before leaving everything to devote himself exclusively to his art.
He took drawing classes as an auditor at Ensad, and joined the modelling workshop of Philippe Jourdain, a pupil of Charles Auffret and Jean Cardot, at the ateliers beaux-arts de la ville de Paris, a course he followed intensively and assiduously for 6 years. He acquired unique skills in modelling and moulding, perpetuating a long tradition of French sculpture. In his studio at the Marché Dauphine, Mehdi continues his modelling work on live models, as well as casting and patinating his pieces.
He has always been fascinated by the human figure, and his work focuses on the nude and the portrait, which he is particularly fond of. Through the plastic beauty of the forms, he seeks to reveal the model’s innermost thoughts and capture their essence.
